This is a used tank and I haven't asked if it's still available. It's listed on Craigslist

P.S.
I think his/her tank measurements are off. Either that or it's larger than a 125.

Here are the dimensions from glasscages.com
125 Gal. Wide 72 x 24 x 17
125 tall 60 x 18 x 25 tall

That is a good deal but I forgot to mention that the tank and stand have to be black.

Not in my book. Always two in any tank over 75g. If one fails the other backs it up. Also, two do not have to work as hard to heat the tank meaning they will last longer. 30 bucks is cheap insurance in my book.

I'd say Paradise Cove is a bit high on that tank price.

I have looked around and that is a pretty good price for tank/stand/top and lights. Just my experience in town tho.

Hopefully, you can come in on Sat. and we can talk about tanks. I have all of the tanks on sale thru July. 120g, 125g, 180g. 40%off I think. We are passing that onto the customers this month.

I run only 1 heater in my 125 and my 240. I have never run anymore than that. The temp only needs to be brung up a few degrees. Besides when your talking that much water is stays alot more stable. Not as much up and down in the tank. Ask James at Petland. Their 800 gallon plus african wall is run off of 1 300 watt heater. I've also never had any heater go bad in all my years of owning tanks

I repeat....$30.00 is cheap insurance. 2 heaters in a 6 foot tank keeps more uniform water temperature and, even though you and I have never had one fail, other people have and I will be damned if I am going to lose a single one of my fish because I didn't spend 30 bucks. Smile

Allright, allright calm down. Nothing to argue over. Just stating a simple fact. I 'm sorry, I only run 1 in each tank, that's all

grinning sheepishly... I run two in my 180 (two 300 watt) and two (a 250 and 100 watt) in my 125, the rest only have one. Now don't yell at me but I think I agree with Andrew on this one, but if it works for you Mike, all the better. Different schools of thought I guess and I imagine both could be right. Often the way it goes with us FN's. I also really like sponge filters where some folks can't stand them.
all the best

No yelling going on to you either Mike. I've always ran it that way. I have several other friends with larger tanks that run it that way too. I don't plan to change anything but anythings possible.

I guess we'll wait and see

Mike, I wasnt yelling. There is a smiley face at the end of my statement. Smile I just believe in protecting for the worst. Do a google of "Failed aquarium heaters" and read in horror what happens when they fail. Then read the following quote from a well known breeder...

"Two heaters is a great way of making sure you have more even heating, and that if one
fails you can limp along on the other.

Plus, as often happens, heaters tend to fail where they are stuck on all the time.
One big heater will cook your fish, where two medium heaters would simply be an
inconvenience."

Just trying to help Smile

No blood no foul Andrew. I don't mind a bit of chatting. I didn't see the smiley face. How cute....LOL, sorry.

I guess your right. It won't hurt. This is my first 240 setup. I had asked several others on their thoughts on heater placement. I've had a hald dozen 125 tanks setup before and only ran the 1. Several years of worry free temp's. I may consider it. Now that I said all this tonight it may turn for my so I probably will put another one my 240. Those fish cost me more than all the other 4 tanks combined

Thanks again

Mike Very Happy

I had a heater stick on once. Horrible horrible ordeal. I feed my fish in the morning and when I lifted the lid I could feel the heat coming out and the liquid crystal thermometer was totally black. I spent the next several hours changing water with cooler water. I only lost one fish thankfully. Just thought I'd share Smile

Exactly my point, Mike. You have some of the most expensive, beautiful fish I have seen. With you being a friend of mine, I do not want to be the guy talking to you after your heater stuck on and cooked your fish overnight. It usually doesn't happen....

but it can. Shocked
