Not sure on their type. I have no idea on any Plecos, But I do know that they look good. Nice additions

Clunkster,
please hold back a little...maybe give hints. Let's let these folks get out their L-number recognition guide and see what happens.

Here's a hint. Isaac Asimov. The stars, like dust.

all the best

alright, noone wants to play so here's the scoop.
L-007 Leporacanthicus cf. galaxias, also commonly called the vampire and galaxy pleco.

More from Planetcatfish
L007 (L. cf. galaxias) is distinguished from L029 (L. galaxias) by a higher dorsal fin, a shorter snout and larger spots.

Sexing Adult males have a much longer and broader head with small odontodes on the sides of head, more odontodes on pectoral fin spine and on the whole body, a bigger dorsal fin and normally a prettier coloration.

Habitat Information
Distribution Brazil, Parą, Rio Guamą

pH 5.6 - 7.0

Temperature 22.0-26.0°C or 71.6-78.8°F

Other Parameters This fish originates in fast flowing rapids so you should supply this fish with an oxygen rich strong current environment. I used powerhead driven UGFs with ventura style air / water mixing and an external bucket filter to keep this fish with sturdy medium sized Geophagus and Acaricthys cichlids which didn't mind the extra current too much.

Husbandry Information
Feeding Not a true vegetarian so a wide variety of foods, including algae wafers, cucumber or courgette (zucchini), frozen bloodworm, prawns, shrimps and tablet food. Shelled crustaceans or mollusks appear favourite foods but should be fed sparingly or used for conditioning.

Furniture Prefers bogwood and darker rocks.

Compatibility Gets on with small lively catfish but avoid too many other larger bottom dwellers (unless space permits) due to the territorial disputes.

regards

Hi Clunkster,
Yes sir, and these fish are already at 3 to 3+ inches so it's not a far off goal. I'm working on conditioning the sterbai right now. I have some very small L201 in the 20L with them, probably at least a year out on them. They're maybe an inch in total length, born about 2 months ago to a lady down in Texas.
