YAY!!!! I am getting Betta sp. Mahachai from a gal that I keep in contact with in Utah. She's sending me her reverse trio on Wednesday.

Yes, there is more than one species of betta. The males of this species can be housed together.

I got them in yesterday! Alive and well! They apparently love their new home, because this evening, I caught one of the males and the female acting like they were going to spawn. I am going to try to get one or 2 more females to add to the tank. The males seem like they are spending most of their time and energy on arguing. Of course, they are still working out who's territory is who's. Duh, right?

I'm completely ignorant of bettas. How about some snaps so we can put a face with the name???

And - would you like to run the betta section? PM me if you think you might like to.

is the best that I can do for now. Mine are still a bit pale from shipping. Wild species take awhile to get completely settled in, and I need to neaten the tank before I start snapping pics. lol

I understand completely. I have...
a 150g Discus tank
a 20 High Breeder Angel Tank
a 15g Angel fry tub - and -
a 55g Angel fry tank

all in need of "prettying up" right now.

A Fish Geek's work is never done.

Ain't that the truth! Yesterday, I worked on the 10 gallon snowball shrimp tank, the 10 gallon for the 3 female bettas (I still have to move them in there...I need to get a filter on the tank, so I guess it's still a work in progress). I also worked on the 20 gallon long RCS, Singapore shrimp, and ABN tank, moved the otos into the snowball shrimp tank, and I worked on the 2.5 gallon. That was 4 yesterday and 1 tank today. I'll be working on the 30 gallon long tomorrow. I'm getting there! Almost "done"! LOL

I picked up some jungle vals from argnars on Saturday. They were planted yesterday, and I did some rearranging of a few other plants that were already in there. When I turned on the light this morning, the dominant male had built his first bubble nest. I watched him courting the female this morning, and I also noticed that the other male is getting beaten up. I don't know if I should remove him or not, as adding him back to the tank later may cause more problems. I'll have to so some asking around. The female has a few nips taken out of her anal fin, but that is to be expected. She's been displaying vertical stripes, which are breeding stripes. (Horizontal stripes in either male or female means the fish is stressed.)

I'm still on the hunt for one or two more females to add to the tank.

I possibly have a few more females on the way to add to the colony.

Also, Mr. Farthead in the 29 gallon had a huge bubblenest in the tank this morning. Still waiting on the female to "put out". LOL
