This fish is one I give 100% credit to kisskiss girl on.

It's a checkerboard cichlid. I wasn't impressed with them in the store, but she talked me into trying them.

They're small, peaceful, and kind of funny. They swim in a jerky darting motion...then stop and hover like a bumblebee only to dart off again. I now have four sharing the 55g with my Discus.

have they been bred in captivity?

They came from one of my FL suppliers. I have always had really good luck with them in discus or community tanks. 3" max. and they get more color when they get older. Cheap too.

As a matter of fact....

Mine are starting to get little blue flecks around the jaw area. Just noticed maybe 48 hours ago. Sweeeeeeeeeeet!
