Post subject: sunburst platys
I have a sunburst who has always looked pregnant - however, last Saturday I introduced 3 more and at least one of them is a male - she now looks huge and like she could burst about any day. I have looked online for a gestational period and am not having any luck with it. I seperated her in one of those livebearer tanks, but am seeing that others on the board do not think those are good. I have some plants that my molly frys have tended to hide in fairly well, so maybe I just need to get some of this hornwart to help (I have just had such bad luck putting plants into my tanks as I then tend to be overwhelmed with a snail population that I don't want). Thanks for your help
I would seperate her. The cheapest way to do this is to use an empty tank or get a good sized clear storage container. Leave it bare bottomed (no gravel or substrate), use a sponge filter, toss in some anacharis, hornwort, and/or Java moss. Leave her in there so she can drop her fry.
