Ok...first and foremost...I'm feeling VERRRY generous with my angels right now. Hollar at me if you know anyone who wants some cheap.

The reason why is...I finally got a fish I've been an admirer of for a long, long time. I bought an Oscar.

I always thought I'd get a red tiger but that's not what I wound up with. Went to Pet World tonight after a nice Cinco de Mayo dinner (& drinks) and got attached to a little tiny baby (1" or so) Albino Tiger Oscar. I don't really even like albino fish as a rule (except for ABN plecs) but this guy grabbed me.Seems to have a lot of personality.

Anyway - I need to EMPTY my 55 ASAP. So...who wants some angels???

I'll post some pics of him ASAP.

Oh...forgot to mention...I saw AnneRiceBowl there looking for a rat cage. (Don't ask Laughing )

Anyway...here's my little (for now) guy...sulking as Oscars do when they're stressed...cute little guy, huh?

As Oscars are fast growers, you can kiss those snails goodbye soon...and the plants. As soon as I can empty it, I'll be moving him to the 55g.

Anyone want some quality angels cheap, cheap, cheap????

I also have a nice Koi angel spawn in the fishroom right now. BBS going and I think I'm going to move mom and dad this time. I was trying to get them to do the whole parent raising thing, but the longest they've made it has been a week of free swimming. So I think they're due for an eviction notice! LOL

You got it Mike. 24 would be awesome...might even throw some extras in for good luck if you want. Give me a call to set it up.

No doubt - or let nature take its course in due time. But I'd never do that - angels are way too cool a fish. No such thing as feeder angels, X!

Can't get a for sure measurement, but I'd say...what? probably an inch and a half??

So I hear. That's why I'm taking all the pics. I think it'll be cool to post a time lapse series as he grows.

So far I'm liking him a lot. It's true what they say - it acts like a dog. Most fish would be stressed for a bit & then perk right up when you drop food in - like angels or africans.

This guy sat in a corner all last night looking petrified. Today he slowly came out...peeking around stuff the whole time. He took his time checking out the tank. Kind of funny...when he sees me watching him, he treads very softly and cautiously - but he's hyper & playful if he can't see me. I just now went down and peeked in the tank from the corner so he couldn't see mee & it looks to me like he's playing...darting back & forth etc.

He's warming up to me and is showing some interest - coming to the glass slowly when people are in the room. He sure eats like an Oscar already...although he's real patient and cautious to make sure he's safe.

Anyway - more to come.

I'll have to move this to the South American section...just realized I stuck it under Africans. Woops.

Oh - his (her) name is Chowder.

very white, even for an albino oscar.

looks pretty cute now, but he should become an oscar.

i just recently bought a senegal bichir, should grow up to an inch per month, and you'll no doubtably see something similar in your oscar, maybe even more at first.

Funny, funny guy. Laughing What can I say? I'm proud.

X:
From my reading 1" per month is pretty standard for the first four months or so...then, although they keep growing lengthwise faster than most fish, they say the length growth does slow a bit and they really beef up in girth. And cute is relative. (Right mpp? ABN's!) I've always loved the look of Oscars. I look forward to having a big ol white buddy.

He's come out of his shell since yesterday. He's eating great and coming to the glass to see us now. I'm putting my finger in & holding it still. He won't nip at it just yet, but he is swimming up to it. I figure the more used to people he is the more fun he'll be when he's huge.

That is such a cute oscar. Keep posting photos. I take a ton too. The time lapse is great, and it is weird and interesting to see how the fish has changed from youth to adulthood.

Thanks - I had the little bugger chasing my finger across the water last night. Let's see...am I teaching him to be comfortable around people - or to eat fingers? Shocked Time will tell.

Yeah - I'm looking forward to that...but enjoying now, too. I love coming home each day and seeing how he's warming up to us. I really am enjoying this guy.
