I went to PetSmart a few hours ago, and they are selling "Japanese Algae Eating Shrimp" (or Amano shrimp, or more technically, "Cardina japonica"). The list price is somewhere around $4 each ($3.47 or somesuch). Well, I had my friend/babysitter with me, and her unknowledgeable fish department store employee friend was working there today. I noticed that there was an Amano shrimp in with the ghost shrimp (which most of us know that they are $0.30 each), and I said that I am picky about my shrimp, and she let me scoop out the Amano shrimp. Then I said, "Oh look, some got through the dividers (

)." So, I got SIX Amano shrimp (about $24.00 total) for $1.30 (she marked the bag as having 4 ghost shrimp). Now who can pass up a deal like that???
