Well, bummer.

Looks like it's splitsville for my spawning pair. Sometime about a month ago or so the female decided she just didn't like the male anymore and started beating the tar out of him. He had scales missing, a torn tail and an almost stripped pectoral fin.

So I pulled her out and stuck her in another tank for a week or two. Recently I put them back together. It went well for a while and she turned on him again - pretty violently. I guess she's just done with him.

Dad now lives in the 150 with (tempoararily) about 60 of his babies. I may wind up selling the female. She's a spawner & definately a nice looking fish with good genes. Hate to do it, but I can't have any domestic aquatic violence in my tank.
