How do you guys do it?! I've seen on here, like just earlier today, that some of you are like "I see L###!"... How the heck do you a) remember the number (I'm assuming you check a list) but then b) remember the differences between each and every one??

Not really important to find out, it's meant more as a compliment, but I WOULD like to eventually know how to do it myself.

With a lot of years, of keeping them Trilly-77-24 Trilly-77-24 Trilly-77-24 Obviously if you keep or have kept a certain L no then you will know it. Also their are L no's that are instantly recognisable i.e L46. Also L no's can also be i.d by the dorsal rays etc etc. Me personally i have kept and studied them for a very long time, and so use books as well as the net in, identification of which L no it is. Here are some of the sites i use. Planet catfish

Like clunk, I really enjoy all catfish. The plecs are a little more difficult to care for than most catfish and thats why they intrigue me. I have been keeping plecs for 2 years and I also work in the lfs. There are over 400 different plecs with some not having a L#. I use planetcatfish on a regular basis for identification.
