sorry i could not resist putting it like that Twisted Evil but yes i have painted tanks before, if your gonna do it yourself then remember it is a a pain to remove if you change your mind, but if you do you can use a paint brush or roller, but DO not paint the tank on the inside make sure its on the outside, i used to use the colours black, green & blue but its your own personal choice, another way of achiving a dark background is scrunched up refuse bags Cool

I've painted a few tanks. I used a roller. Mask off the corners just like a wall and get to rolling

I've been reading up on this and most people use Krylon Fusion spray paint & mask it off with painters tape and newspaper.

Anne:

Flat looking semigloss in the color of your choice.

I've tried spray...so I recommend rolling. And...a little trick to help it go on smooth and scrape off easy...mix the paint with a little dishwashing liquid in your roller pan.

Sounds goofy - but it works!

Thanks! I have been wanting to paint my tanks, but have been hesitant.

Is it okay to paint the tanks with them running? If not, I'll just wait until I move.

as long as you make sure that no paint gets in the tank and the room your painting the tanks in, is well ventilated then i dont see why you cant, just be carefull, but if your not sure then dont wait till you move, or you could try the scrunched up bin bags which can be very effective

I may just wait until I move. I can see myself getting black paint all over the white wall behind the tank. lol I have black background on there now--the crappy stuff that you get at the store. I am just not impressed with it.
