I've recently noticed some floating tiny clover looking plants. What are they and is there anything I should know about them?

Here's a pic of Gary's Duckweed, and a link to the Duckweed Topic.

That's what it sounds like, Sushi.

I got some without asking for it, too.

Duckweed is a huge pain in the tuckus! If you don't keep up on it, it will quickly overwhelm a tank and shade all the other plants you have growning. IMHO, get rid of it if possible.

Duckweed is a huge pain!! Unfortunatly, it comes in the bags when the plants are sent to the stores. It is stuck all over them when I unpack the shipments. We have a lot of it right now at Pet World. Just net it off the top and with time it will go away. If you know anyone with a turtle, they love to eat it. Also, in the furure, you can rinse your new plant purchases in tap water. It kills any snails and rinses off the duckweed. I dip mine at home in tap, then a bucket of prime water. Razz

I think it's a neat little plant. I was very pleased when I picked up a couple of leaves with a recent purchase. I'd had it years ago, but it died out.

What I've noted this time round, is that it's gathering in a corner where I have a red algae problem, and where it's difficult to clean off. I'm hoping to put the Duckweed to work, cutting down the algae.
