Post subject: Anybody know the name of this guy?
I bought 2 of these catfish about 1.5 years ago. They don't do anything really. They just hide in the plants together all day. I like them though. You kinda forget you have them. Sorry about the fuzzy images. They are about 2.5'' in lenght.
and
While I'm at it can't remember this guys name either? Have 3 they are very active and spend a lot of time pacing the front of the tank.

Right the catfish look like they could be one of the banjo cats, but better pics would help with the i.d. Which would explain why they hide in the plants, but if you had a sand substrate then you would see them burrow in the sand
The other fish in your pics is a Barbus conchonius (Rosy barb) and by the look of the one infocus looks to be a male

It's very difficult to tell which plec species are in the first two pics. From the body type, I'm leaning toward a banjo cat but can't be certain. Take a look here and let us know if this is a close approximation of your cat

The last pic looks very much like a Rosy Barb (barbus conchonius).

I'm just glad we said the same thing essentially. It wouldn't do to proffer differing opinions on the fish ID. I was a little surprised to see your post pop up where there had been no answer before. Have you ever thought about that poor worm? Now if he'd been a little earlier, the bird wouldn't have gotten him.

Yea but the worm might be too lazy to get up earlier
Its possible that we read it at the same time, but i might have been quicker on the draw But yes your right its good that we both agree it one of the Bunocephalus species

Thanks Clunkster and mpp!. The link to the photo was spot on. Exactly as described. I'll have to get some river sand for the tank. Have an African clawed frog. Think he'd like it too.
As for the rosy barbs, I know they are common enough but I couldn't remember the name. It was bugging me. If the one with the short fin is male then the other 2 are female, cause they have relly long flowy fins.
Thanks again!!!

Your welcome But you are wrong in the way you are sexing the rosy barbs, the way to tell is the male is more colourfull, female is smaller in size and the male is more slender

to add on to clunkster's remarks, there are long fin rosy barb varieties now which is what I think you have. My male Rosies, have darker coloration in their dorsal and ventral fins as well as being more colorful overall. My females have virtually no coloring in their fins.
