AH, the old "now you can't move the heater, so there" trick. Very nice. It'll be interesting to see how they act as parents.
regards

We'll see when (if) they hatch - so far they're pretty attentive.

As you know, Angels love to eat. Mom and Dad only swam away from the eggs for a few seconds tonight to take a quick bite & swim back. They left the bulk of the food for the two corys they share the tank with.

Speaking of the corys - the Angels have set a parimeter for them that they dare not cross. I watched for a while while the Angels would peck the corys if they "crossed the line." Pretty territorial little buggers.

Since they're pretty young and this is (as far as I know) their first spawn, I have relatively few expectations. I'll let you know in about five days if I have wigglers or not.

Very Happy

Thanks.

Well today about 30% or so of the eggs are white. The others are browning up nicely. Although I never spawned angels, I know from spawning other species that's a good sign. I assume it's the same for angels. Regardless, for a couple juveniles...they at least fertilized some of the eggs and they're not eating them...so they did well. hate-bravo Lots of times juvies screw up the first few times. So far so good!

They're keeping watch pretty closely on the eggs, so I'm hoping in a couple more days to have some wigglers.

Kind of funny...

I had them in my 20 High with 2 of my (former) breeding c. paleatus and a couple otos. They got so territorial, the poor corys had to stay under the sponge filter or the angels would rap them in the head. So I moved them into a 10 with some baby matea.

I'd be so psyched if they actually hatched & raised some youngin' -- keeping my fingers crossed.

so does that mean you have bbs on hand or maybe some infusoria you've prepped? When I bred them, I hatched the eggs away from the parents in a small 10 with the fine bubble air and meth blue. The meth blue would stain the infertile eggs (along with pretty much everything else) and leave the viable eggs untouched... was pretty cool. I used to pick the infertile eggs out so as to avoid spreading the fungus that sets up rapidly on infertile eggs.
It's been a couple of days, they might just be some good parents you have there.
best of luck

No BBS this time. I'm going to try what a friend of mine had some success with...starting from scratch with the smallest micron Golden Pearls I can get (50 micron). She's been raising angels on it for a long time. I also have some HBH fry food which is pretty much dust sized.

Also no meth blue as I'm letting them tend to the eggs. I did all the hatching for my corys & there's no way I can tend to eggs with my travel schedule...so I guess I'll just get smaller hatches than I could. That could be a good thing with my tank space situation! I'm on the hunt for a cheap garage sale 40-75. If they turn out to be good parents, I'll need one! So hollar if you see any ridiculous deals please.
