I got a box of Endler's Livebearers in the mail a few days ago. Unfortunately they are constantly moving around my tank and after about 15 minutes of trying I had zero pictures that weren't just a blur! I got 2 males/2 females and 6 fry. The males are really brilliant.

Anyone know an easy way to get a picture of these things? I tried putting one in a glass but it still wouldn't stay still long enough and then was distorted. It is about the size of a medium paper clip.

LOL Good luck. I haven't tried to take pics of mine. I just got mine in about a week ago. Try following them with your camera. When you push the button to take the pic, don't stop moving the camera. See how that works. You should get a clear image of the fish, but will get a blurry background.

It's a Canon SD450. I have tried normal and the macro setting.. it pauses to focus and by that time the fish is out of focus again. Maybe I will have to set it up on a chair and take 100 pictures on a timer until one comes out.

I give up, they don't like getting close to the glass so this is as good as I get.

Not bad! Just keep practising!

Whenever you are ready to expand your Endlers' gene pool, let me know, and maybe we can do a trade.

I got mine from DiabloCanine on TPT, I see you posted in that thread too. If these things breed as much as they say, I will have plenty to get rid of soon I guess.

LOL I sent him a PM today. but he has still not responded. I got mine from the admin on petfish.net. He sent me 10 (2 of them are slightly gravid, and 4 others are definitely male, and I am waiting on the other 4 to mature so they can be sexed). The admin told me the same about their reproduction.

I wasn't too happy with entire thing because half the older females were DOA and looked to be dead a long time even though it was only 2 days. He did include 10 fry instead of 6 though.

I'm assuming the black spot means it is a female right? Out of the 10 fry I have several showing the black but none coloring up as males. I do have one female that is nice and plump though.

I noticed this morning my first fry! Maybe 2-3 mm long and swimming around the surface.
