Clunkster,
checked again this morning and still not clear. I swapped out the micron cartridges yesterday and get this... I had to remove the hoses and shake out the ancistrus that had swum up the outflow from the filter--Little buggers! Anyway, popped the used cartridge in a bleach solution and put a brand new one in. The time I've spent on trying to "fix" this tank could easily have been used setting up a couple more. I did manage to get the gear for the common air for all the tanks. I was going to begin setting it up last night, but I had to bag all the garden waste (here we have to bag it in brown bags and put it at the curb to be picked up). While I was in still in England, I just dried it in the back garden and burned it once dry. Not possible here. I'll try and remember to take a pic tonight and update.
best regards
mike

well, it's getting a little clearer but this is the 5th day running the micron filter (with several swapouts mind you). I can finally see the back of the tank but it's still more than a little murky. Readings remain the same, zeroes across the board and no losses. Younger tank to the right still crystal clear... sheesh!

Back to the original thread, They don't have an L number because they are more or less 'man made'. They don't occur naturally in the wild as the L144 do. What I mean about 'man made' is that 2 different species of ancistrus were cross spawned (whether intentionally or by accident) just like the longfin albino and the longfin calico.

In regards to the cloudy water, leave it alone. Don't do any water changes unless you see ammonia and/or nitrite spiking and even then do a minimal water change. Let the bacteria bloom take its course and it will be clear in 2 weeks.
