Since my pair apparantly likes to eat more than they like to parent - I stole their damn eggs this time. They were plenty unhappy with me too - I got a pretty aggressive attack on my hand when I removed the slate.

Anyway - so far so good. Got the slate bubbling with some meth blue & a heater. Just past about 30 hours & most eggs are browning up nicely. Just a hand full of white infertile/fungused ones.

Some pics...

You can see the little dots inside some of them - wigglers forming!

So here I go again. I set up a little makeshift hatchery. For the eggs, I got one of those small plastic aquariums for a few bucks - probably about 10" x 4" or so. To the right is a 15g (give or take) plastic Walmart storage bin ($3.89) with a stealth heater and a sponge filter. That'll be their home in week or so once they're free swimming & eating well.

I'll keep you posted & supplied with pics.

Well - yes and no.

If it's just feeding - the wife does it.

If it's daily water changes, egg/fry care or something that requires a bit more care - she's not interested so I give him a few bucks to do it. I jst talk him through it on the phone when I have to.

Works out pretty well.

Got back home today & have (wild guess) about 200 wigglers. Yikes. I know angels survival rates are low, but once they're swimming, eating & strong I may have to give some away to others to grow out if I have even 25% of that.

I'm WIPED OUT tonight -- but will post some pics tomorrow when work allows.

Here we go. As I've found in the past - wigglers are the hardest stage to get pictures of. Here's the best I can do...

Here are a couple from 10-26 (day 3 - first day wiggling) while they're still on the slate...

That night I squirted them all off the slate. Here are some from the next day (10/27) - still some infertile eggs among them. I'm sucking them out with a length of tubing when I can do so without sucking up babies.

I know the pics are grainy - but it's so cool to watch these guys in person. Unlike cory hatching - these wigglers seem to want to huddle together. They're like a sheet of wigglers. The motion is weird - looks like "the wave" when they're all together.

I have a short video clip - but I haven't had much luck posting clips in the past. Suggestions?
