this week! So, now all I need to know is where to find a 10 pound or 20 pound CO2 tank locally for cheap. For those of you who have pressurized CO2, how tall are the 20 pound tanks? This would be going under my 30 gallon.

ARB,
all you need is a 5lb canister. That will run about 70 bucks. Refills are about 20 bucks.

Could you document the steps as you do this? It'd be a real learning experience for everyone here - like me. I've dinked with DIY CO2 but don't know anything about pressurized systems.
Shame you don't have a digital camera handy.

ARB,
the regulator will work just fine. It really doesn't matter all that much as far as the size of tank since it will dose your tank with the amount of CO2 you set. the regulator will work on tanks like your 30 up to and over my 180. As long as it works with the system you have, you're golden. You just dial up how much CO2 you need for your tank and then refill as appropirate.
all the best
mike
YAY!!! I ordered the regulator, filter, light, and ferts today! I just need a reactor and the CO2 cannister!

I was just thinking. When your regulator comes in, you can see if it fits my CO2 cylinder. That way you won't go and buy one that doesn't work.
All I do is bring in the empty and then they give me another full one.

Sounds like a plan, Mike! I hope it will be in next week. I can't wait to get this going. I bought a powerhead this evening from the BX for $16.99, which is the cheapest I found locally and even online (if you include shipping in the final price). The powerhead is so that I can build a
