Does anybody know where to get these? Also known as the African Giant Filter Shrimp, Vampire Shrimp, African Fan Shrimp.

I'm not sure where to get them. The few online stores that I have found that has them on their list are normally out of stock. I've tried to have them on special order at a few LPSs, but no luck. From what I've heard, they're usually only imported in the spring.

If you do ever get them, please try to raise the larvae in captivity. Wink

Oh, and if you do get them, be careful what you house them with.

I only found a couple relevant posts... I guess freshwaterinverts.com had some at one point not not in stock right now. You could try asking them where they got em or if they plan on selling again soon.

Thanks!

That fist link was from about a year ago. I guess I could put up a WTB in their Sawp n Shop. I guess it couldn't hurt! LOL

Thanks for the 3rd link! I'm gonna give that LPS one more try before I order online.

Why is that? Filter shrimp can't do that much damage.

It's not the shrimp that will cause damage, but the other fish in the tank. For example: loaches will pester the heck out of shrimp.

Then they would be fine. Also, keep in mind that they get over 7 inches long, so they would need room to move. They also need a well established tank to be housed in for the micro-things in the water column. I'm not exactly sure what size tank for them, but with Atyopsis molucccenis, they need roughly 5 gallons each.

I have plenty of room for 5 - 10+ of them. The only shrimp I can find around here is cherry shrimp.
