Here are two images of the new layout f my Discus tank - with and without flash. (As you can tell I cleaned the exterior glass AFTER the pics)
Just FYI - I try to make the tank look nice, provide some cover, and hide all the equipment.
If you look from left to right, I'll point out what's there, why, and what it's hiding.
The short stumpy looking piece of wood on the far right sits in front of a bunch of hornwort - and together they hide a sponge filter. (you can still sort of see it from this angle.
Directly to the right of that at the back of the tank is a tall piece of african rootwood and a taller bunch of hornwort. They cover the intake of the first HOB filter - and they hide a Stealth 300w heater.
To the right of that is the diagonal hollowed out "tree" with the open knot-hole. It hides a second 250w heater. As you can see, it also sits up on about a 2" raised area that is framed in with more african rootwood. Planted around it are java ferns & a few baby swords.
To the far right is another big piece of african rootwood & a tall bunch of hornwort. They hide the second HOB filter intake. They sit on about a 2" raised area which is framed in with petrified wood and is planted with a sword and some baby swords.
I like the layout. It looks more open & while providing some hiding spots, really gives the fish more room to swim and eat.
The pics aren't the best - I was in a hurry. I'll post better later.
