Some strange force made me finally get a red claw crab. I didn't realize it at the time, but it's missing one leg on each side and a claw. Hopefully, some TLC and time away from other crabs will help it regenerate a new claw and legs by the next molt.

Has anyone had any experience with these? I am finding conflicting advice on whether or not to house them in fresh water or brackish. I've got mine in brackish right now.

I'll get some pics up as soon as I can.

A pic!

The temporary tank he's in now is a 2.5 gallon. It's one of those 12" x 6" glass boxes that comes with a glass lid from PetSmart. As you can see, there is natural pea gravel, lava rock, and then just behind the crab, you can see that green thing, which is a tank decoration. It does have access to air and dry land. I am also in the process of making a floating island from 2 wine bottle corks tied together with Java moss tied to it.

The crab will soon be moving to my empty 5.5 gallon. I am waiting for a 20 gallon long from someone, and I am doing the tank shuffle again. The 20 long is for 5 juvie Apistogramma hongsoi. I am also getting sand for the 5.5 gallon so the crab will have something to dig around in and to sift.

The crab has been eating shrimp pellets so far.

LOL /smacks Gary

clink, she is in her very own tank. I may throw some guppies in the tank with her once I move her to a 5.5 gallon tank. Yes, the guppies would be for her to "have some fun with".

OH! Since I posted that pic of her, she now has a little nub of a claw and two little tiny nubby legs!!! LOL

I'll get some more pics of her soon. Her tank is getting a remodel and move after the bee shrimp tank.
