Well, that ole 180 was in dire need so I tore it apart and completely renovated it. Decided on no moss, no stems, no swords, nothing except anubias and bolbitus. Here she goes.

Getting the entire thing cleaned and gravel vac'd without totally hosing the beneficial bacteria took a few days. A little at a time. By 2 Jan, all the plants had been removed and gravel completely done.

Next it was time to take a few fishy pics of folks I don't get to see every day.

C. Shwarzii

C. Venezuelanus

C Venezuelanus, Schwarzii and a C Sterbaii

oh well, funs over and time to get to work.

plant trimming/cleaning time

find the stumps and get them cleaned and ready

check and see how they look together

looks ok, time to fix 'em

I used loose rubber bands

Had two of these gi-normous anubias sp. that I used for each stump

then it took a while to get it all arranged and planted but it's done... Here's how she turned out

left side

mid tank

right side

Getting real close to being done

added black plastic and all of my angels from the downstairs tanks and gonna call it quits for now

Happy New Year from me and mine to you and yours!

those anubias were already in the 180... I'll see if I can find the link where I got quite a few of them from at very, very reasonable prices when I get home tonight.

Thank you very much Clunkster, even with a step ladder one finds his arms, shoulders, chest and stomach getting wet whilst cleaning/arranging that bathtub of a tank! Shocked
I hope you had a nice Christmas, Boxing Day and Happy New Year,
all the best

I'm not sure how I missed the flippers and such comment. I kinda know what you felt like. I have to do the same thing when cleaning my 240 gallon tank. It's the only tank I've ever had that I have to stand on a chair to clean. Being 6'2" it doesn't happen often

Thanks

Mike
